I first registered with Astute Education in July 2020, (I had returned to the UK after teaching in Bangkok) and was immediately struck by their professional, honest and friendly communications. I was registered with several teaching agencies in Liverpool, but wanted to experience international teaching again, particularly in Spain. Jake was honest enough to let me know that, due to the pandemic, it was looking unlikely that I would secure a position for September. He was professional throught my dealings witgh him and friendly enough to regularly enquire as to my availability.
I was supply teaching in my home city from September 2020. An opportunity arose in early October for a position in Tenerife, which Jake asked whether I would be interested. He had clearly read my CV and understood my requirements. I was asked to informal interview in November and then again for formal interview a week later. Jake was tireless, I was working full time and didn’t have the capacity to conduct emails etc, to be able to communicate with the school, who were looking for a Year 5 teacher, to start in January 2021.
I was successful in securing the position and am now living, (turned out they wanted me to start ASAP), in a beautiful place called El Medano on the Tenerife south coast.
My teaching career, which started in 2002, has given me opportunities in Liverpool, Manchester and London, (where I left my Deputy Head post) in July 2019. I taught in Bangkok and am now in Tenerife.
I can absolutely recommend Astute Education for their qualities mentioned. I will most certainly be contacting Jake again if my circumstances change and need support in securing a future international role.
