I will be starting my 7th year teaching in the UAE and this is the second time I have used the services of Astute Education.
Working with Colin has been a breeze! The admin and documentation side of getting a teaching job in the UAE can be quite an arduous and time-consuming task but Colin made the process a lot easier. Astute have guided me throughout the long recruitment process and helped me navigate all the hurdles. They’re fast to respond, listened to everything I needed, and knew how to get the right results.
I first registered with Astute Education in July 2020, (I had returned to the UK after teaching in Bangkok) and was immediately struck by their professional, honest and friendly communications. I was registered with several teaching agencies in Liverpool, but wanted to experience international teaching again, particularly in Spain. Jake was honest enough to let me know that, due to the pandemic, it was looking unlikely that I would secure a position for September. He was professional throught my dealings witgh him and friendly enough to regularly enquire as to my availability.
I was supply teaching in my home city from September 2020. An opportunity arose in early October for a position in Tenerife, which Jake asked whether I would be interested. He had clearly read my CV and understood my requirements. I was asked to informal interview in November and then again for formal interview a week later. Jake was tireless, I was working full time and didn’t have the capacity to conduct emails etc, to be able to communicate with the school, who were looking for a Year 5 teacher, to start in January 2021.
I was successful in securing the position and am now living, (turned out they wanted me to start ASAP), in a beautiful place called El Medano on the Tenerife south coast.
My teaching career, which started in 2002, has given me opportunities in Liverpool, Manchester and London, (where I left my Deputy Head post) in July 2019. I taught in Bangkok and am now in Tenerife.
I can absolutely recommend Astute Education for their qualities mentioned. I will most certainly be contacting Jake again if my circumstances change and need support in securing a future international role.

Astute Education. Helpful and friendly staff. After searching for a few weeks for a teaching job in South East Asia, I found an advertisement for a teaching job from Astute Education. I emailed the contact and had a reply and a phone conversation within the next couple of days. From there Astute where able to get in contact with the employer and arrange an interview the following week. The Astute staff, Colin, kept in contact throughout the process and offered support regarding my CV. I am now living and teaching in Kuala Lumpur and have even had a message from Astute a month down the line to check everything is going well. Astute organizes interviews in different UK cities and tests the subject knowledge of the candidates. I was offered a contract in Abu Dhabi and Astute worked with me and advised me through the acceptance process, and contacted me when I arrived at my destination. Although this was not my first time working abroad, it was, however, my first time working through an agency. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was surely not disappointed with Astute! They answered all of my questions promptly and on time, they had always given all the information they possibly could have given the circumstances, and were very helpful in comforting me in my concerns. I arrived to the MOE program in the UAE with many other teachers, who were contracted through many other recruiters, and after talking with all the teachers, Astute Education was the only recruiter to have given us the proper information about the job, our specific work sites, and all other details that were necessary. Whilst looking for a change in my life, to experience and live within different cultures at the heart of the transition was Astute Education. A big change in anybody’s life always has an element of anxiety and second guessing but the staff at Astute helped with sending the right information, and the right papers at the right time. My experience with Astute has been an amazing and exciting one to say the least. Astute have been very supportive during my experience with them.
